Fife Society for the Blind is a Scottish Charity registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator as well as a Company Limited by Guarantee.
Membership of the Society is open to anyone who supports the aims and activities of the Society and membership entitles attendance at the Annual General Meeting. For further details about membership contact – info@fsbinsight.co.uk
Responsibility for governance of the Society rests with the Board of Directors. In appointing Directors, the Board endeavours to ensure that the majority are blind or partially sighted ensuring that the organisation is led by those it serves. Directors are appointed as follows:
- Chief Executive Officer
- 7 Directors representing local committees, many are themselves blind or partially sighted
- 7 Directors representing the Fife Forum of the Visually Impaired, all are representative of local service users
- 7 Directors who are elected by the members as having particular knowledge or specialist skills such as finance or law
- 3 Directors who are co-opted to fill particular skills or vacancies
In addition to those charged with the governance of the Society, an appointment is made to the honorary position of President. The Honorary President acts as an ambassador for the Society representing the organisation within a wider network and at formal occasions.
