RAMBLING GROUP TAKE ON THE COASTAL PATH

One walk completed by Fife Society for the Blind’s Rambling Group was a section of the Coastal Path, from Inverkeithing to Aberdour, on Saturday 21 May.
The Rambling Group this month was made up of 4 visually impaired and 7 volunteer sighted guides. Everyone met at Aberdour where they took the train down to Inverkeithing to start this month’s ramble.
The route, approximately 5 miles, was chosen and led by volunteer Chris Mercer. The group followed the path along the coast, round the outskirts of Dalgety Bay, past World War II ruins, stopping for a picnic lunch at the beautiful remains of St Bridget’s Kirk, before finishing the walk back in the village of Aberdour.
Ian, one of the participants, commented
that: “We’ve all got sight problems and Fife Society for the Blind Rambling Group having picnic lunch at St Kilda's Kirk, Dalgety Bay wouldn’t be able to get out without the guides. They do a marvellous job. The walks are very enjoyable – it’s good company and exercise. It makes a huge difference to the way I feel.”
SWIMMING GROUP COOL OFF IN THE POOL
Fancy a splish splash? Come along to Fife Society for the Blind’s Swimming Groups! Now that summer is here what better way to cool off than in the pool.
When? Tuesdays between 12noon and 1pm.
Where? There is a group at Bowhill Cardenden and another group meet at Cowdenbeath.
We caught up with the swimmers at Bowhill. Visually Impaired swimmers take to the pool with volunteer sighted guides.
Amanda commented that “We are very lucky as the pool is warm and very quiet and has great facilities. New swimmers would be welcome!”
The Cowdenbeath group have just been joined by two new volunteers this session, however we are also looking for an extra female helper.
